After about five years since it updated its word count from 140 to 280 words per tweet in 2017, Twitter is set to make another word-count-related update in the form of Twitter Notes.
It is a known fact that Twitter is one of the apps with a very limited word count. As a result, its users have been making use of Twitter threads to elaborate thoughts, and ideas in text form.

Besides threads, some people use Notes apps on their phones, take screenshots, and then upload them on Twitter. This process is, however, not so advantageous. Firstly, it is a long process and it is also not so easy to interact with the words in it as they’re not clickable– especially hashtags.
What The New Twitter Notes Feature Does
With this new feature, Twitter users can write extended content on the app. They can do this without worrying about the current word count limit. This feature is currently being tested and will be publicly launched soon.
Tech Steroid’s reporter was able to gather that Twitter Notes was initially named ‘Twitter Article’ until it was changed. It was also gathered that several new functions will be added to Twitter Notes.
Unlike the current version, Twitter Notes will have some formatting tools like “bold”, “italics”, “strikethrough”, “add links”, tracking word count, changing style, etc.

Jane Manchun Wong, an app researcher also noted other features the new Twitter Notes will come with. They include a “Focus Mode” that would hide Twitter sidebars and can expand an article to a full-screen view.
To sum up,
There are other features that Twitter Notes is said to have– including saving articles as drafts and being able to interface between drafts and already published articles. Twitter Notes will be located next to “Tweets & replies” and will be ready for launch in the latest version of Twitter.
Hopefully, Twitter will be able to maintain this feature, as it is going to make a lot of Twitter activities easier for twitterers.
