It is good news for some South African students as The Shoprite Group is currently offering bursaries to high-performing students of Information Technology enrolled for the 2023 academic year. Other students in Accounting, UI Design, and Food Science will also be beneficiaries of these bursaries.

This is not a new act of the Shoprite Group, as they usually support an average of 300 students every year, investing more than R17 million ($1 million). These bursaries usually contain tuition fees and on-campus accommodation. Also, beneficiaries of these bursaries have access to Shoprite’s Employee Wellness Programme which gives them access to medical advice, legal advice, financial coaching, and counseling services.
Another advantage that receiving these bursaries will give is that bursary holders are guaranteed employment, following a work-back agreement upon graduation. They also have the benefit of getting valuable practice experience and strong career growth prospects, courtesy of the Shoprite Group. In the words of Lingile Koti, the Senior Early Careers Talent Specialist,”With staggering youth unemployment levels, the Shoprite Group’s bursary programme gives highly motivated and ambitious students the best possible start to their careers. . . We are looking to invest in youths that want to grow and develop into the future leaders of our industry”.
