Facebook is currently testing ways to let its users have up to five profiles on the same account.
The intended structure for this is that while the main profile will have the users’ real names, the other profiles will not need to have their real names. The giant tech company also made it clear that the additional profiles will still be subject to its policies, and so, users cannot misinterpret their identities or impersonate other people. Also, receiving violation notifications on your other profiles will impact your main profile.

According to Leonard Lam, Spokesperson of Facebook, “To help people tailor their experience based on interests and relationships, we’re testing a way for people to have more than one profile tied to a single Facebook account. Anyone who uses Facebook must continue to follow our rules”.
This new Facebook feature will help users express different sides of themselves on one Facebook account. Facebook has also said that this new feature will encourage more engagements on the platform. At the same time, the way metrics are reported will not change. Things like daily and monthly active users will be counted under the main account. The launch of this feature will also help bring more engagements on Facebook and encourage users to interact more with others through posting and sharing of content.
With the introduction of multiple profiles, users can properly separate their content. For instance, one profile could be set aside to talk about and promote your career, while others may be used for other activities. One account, different profiles. However, Facebook has said that even with this multiple profiles feature, some parts of the app will only be available for the main profile, such as Facebook Dating and creating/managing a Page.
This seems like a very interesting feature and we really cannot wait to explore it.
