If there is anything I have learnt in the journey of Life and Love, it is the fact that nothing is certain, because we are all taking a risk in loving and being loved, I have seen two people date each other for 8 years, only to break up 5months before their wedding date, I have also seen people date each other for 2months and live happily ever after in their marriage, Love is a big mystery.
Remember the message I told you Fatimas Ex sent her?
It was a message requesting a date with Fatima, he said they had something important to talk about. Although Fatima replied to him by saying they could talk about it on the phone, but he replied back by saying he would have requested a phone conversation if it could be said on the phone.
My girlfriend was however not in the mood for any date because she was still vulnerable and yet to completely heal from the recent incident that happened at the Lounge.
So she sent the Ex a message saying she will be coming in the company of her friend if that is fine with him. He replied to her message by saying “That’s perfect, as long as you trust the friend”.
I was a bit sceptical as to why he mentioned the word trust, but I decided to allow it to slide so I don’t overthink the innocent statement.
We agreed to meet on a Tuesday evening at his Lounge.
Tuesday came by, and we made sure we didnt dress like what we were going through, so we don’t get treated like anyhow babes.
Fatima wore a pair of jean trousers, naked sandals, a simple top, golden anklets, Justine Clenquet silver & gold sid earrings, and a bucket shoulder bag while rocking her low-cut hair dyed in golden colour.
I wore a stylish fringe skirt, a simple top, silver anklets, strappy toe loop block heel mules, and Faris silver Nina earrings, while also rocking a vintage scarf that gently exposed my beautiful natural hair.
We set out for his lounge and got there at exactly 6 pm, Fatima called him to let him know we arrived already, and he came to meet us, after which he led us into his office for a more private conversation.
We got into his office and I must commend that it was a calm and beautiful space, but the music playing in the background caught my attention when he said “oh, my favourite music is playing”, I had to ask him who sang the song and he mentioned Brymo, Hold on while I play the song
I paid attention to the song, and I loved the lyrics, but the part where he mentioned being a heartbreaker made me a little bit paranoid, and I was saying to myself, that I better protect my girl from falling in-love with this guy again.
But the conversation started and the first thing he asked Fatima was “when is the date ?”, Fatima replied with a look of surprise on her face asking, what date?
He replied by saying “the date for our wedding….”, Fatima and I looked each other in the eye and burst into laughter, it sounded like we had never heard such a joke before now.
But he maintained a serious face and replied to our laughter saying, “this is not a joke, this is a serious discussion here, anyways we will get back to that Fatima, let’s talk business first”. Fatima’s face lit up at the mention of business.
He started by mentioning that he had acquired 3 new buildings in various parts of the town and he has a vision to leverage Technology in the synchronization and management of the business activities.
He said one of the buildings will be an exclusive membership lounge with an annual subscription fee of 5 million naira, he described what the packages will look like and how he wanted to manage it with the use of technology so as to improve efficiency and value.
He mentioned that the other building which is a 3-storey structure with 2 units of 4bedroom apartments on each floor will all be used as a service apartment, with the least subscription per room costing 100 thousand naira weekly, alongside other added benefits.
While the last building will be a replica of what he was already doing at the lounge here.
“I need something never seen in the hospitality industry, and I know that I can’t trust the advice of anyone else except you Fatima, I need you to assemble the best brains to make this happen. Please advise me on various ways to go about this and the required budget.”
Fatima was blown off by the progress he has made and his readiness to embrace Tech, she didn’t know what to tell him, but she only asked that he allows her to think this through for 2weeks, so she can make adequate research and speak to other colleagues in the industry.
We had a lengthy discussion about the current mode of operation in his business and the challenges he seeks to overcome, but come to think of it, there is lots of money in the hospitality sector, and a whole lot more money could be made if the right technology is leveraged.
He showed us around the entire compound and he has indeed made a lot of progress, it’s funny when the people you think are not serious with their lives, are actually the ones with the best plan and execution strategy.
At some point during the tour, he held Fatima’s hand and said, “Let’s practice what it will feel like when we walk together on our wedding day”, Fatima smiled and she replied to him saying “I don’t know what that means”, but they actually did the walk and it was beautiful.
It was time to leave and he offered us a bottle of Belvedere Vodka and Martell Cognac. He also gave Fatima $500 cash for the research work, he said he did so because he needed Fatima to treat the business as a business and make sure to give him the best result.
We ordered a ride that will take us back home, and we left the lounge after Fatima and her Ex gave each other a Hug.
The ride back home was filled with gist and lots of questions, although we made sure the driver played songs with a good vibe as we journeyed back home, I remember Fatima and myself singing along during one of the songs. I guess you want to know the song, don’t worry, I will play it for you.
