Nigeria’s biggest FinTech startup, Flutterwave, has just appointed the former Managing Director of Goldman Sachs, Gurbhej Dhillon as its Chief Technology Officer.
Flutterwave just completed a Series D funding round. This has valued the FinTech company at over 30 billion dollars ($30b). Gurbhej has joined the company at a very key moment as it is expanding and maintaining its rapid expansion.
In February this year, for instance, Flutterwave introduced a new series of products and services. Some of these services include Fintech-as-a-Service, Capital, Grow, and Card Issuing. It also improved its already existing products and services. This includes getting a new powerful dashboard, AI-powered Compliance process, and Barter v4.
What Gurbhej Dhillon brings to the Flutterwave table
Gurbhej, who is a global developer and community leader, believes in the works of African developers. He also plans to contribute the best way he can.
Speaking on his new appointment via LinkedIn page today, he said: “I’m excited to announce that I have begun a new chapter in my career and recently joined Flutterwave as their CTO. When I met the founder and CEO, Olugbenga GB Agboola, to discuss the opportunity earlier this year, I was inspired by his vision and what the team achieved in the last 6 years. I knew from the moment that I wanted to be part of their mission to change the payment landscape in Africa and other markets”.
He looks forward to working with his amazing team. This is so that Flutterwave can produce the next generation of solutions. He also seeks to provide endless possibilities for all customers of Flutterwave. Looking at his LinkedIn profile, one can see that he already assumed the position May, this year. However, the official announcement was made today.
Flutterwave’s CEO heaps praises on Gurbhej
Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, Olugbenga “GB” Agboola also had this to say on this LinkedIn page today; “We’re committed to our values at Flutterwave and our ability to bring innovative technology to our market is a promise we continue to fulfill. Gurbhej Dhillon joining us as CTO is the latest effort to continue to fulfill that promise. . . He joins us to continue to improve our architecture, grow our infrastructure, and better support our growth and expansion objectives at Flutterwave”.
Before joining Flutterwave, Gurbhej was the Managing Director of Goldman Sachs for 17 years. Goldman Sachs also happens to be a financial services company. So, with his wealth of experience in leadership and financial services, his joining Flutterwave is a good one. To close his LinkedIn post, he expressed his excitement about the future saying:”I am honoured to work alongside the visionary, passionate, and dedicated leadership team at Flutterwave and I’m excited about the bright future ahead”.
