Sylndr, is a Cairo-based automotive marketplace that deals in the buying and selling of used cars. Recently, it raised a seed funding of $12.6 million.

Albeit its small size, the startup encompasses a promising future as they aim to make car financing easier. One way they do this, is by making cars more affordable, especially in Egypt.

According to the founders, they will provide a seven-day warranty with a variety of long-term financing options to users. Sylndr plans to first launch to sellers and update its car listings. Subsequently, it would later make its platform open to buyers in the Q4 of this year, or Q1 2023.

This startup is looking to double its team size by the end of the year. But, it faces tough competition like Autochek, a Nigerian-based automotive platform. Autochek has recently made inroads into North Africa via an acquisition.

However, we can’t wait to see what Syldnr has in store for the African automotive industry.

Kenya’s Amitruck made its entry into the logistics marketplace in 2019. With its P2P trucking, it is determined to change the country’s difficult and inefficient road transportation network.

To do this, it intends to connect transporters directly with cargo owners. The logic was to effectively wipe out the need for middlemen and make pricing more competitive.

The startup’s progress in the first year was quite impressive. Its mobile app was downloaded more than 10,000 times and its revenues grew by 300 percent over 12 months.

Amitruck has also made it into several accelerators like the Africa Transformative Mobility Accelerator. It has certainly secured funding and company building support from GreenTec Capital Partners.

We’re surely betting on these guys to have a great 2022.

Edukoya officially launched its beta version in December 2021 and seeks to empower learners.

It also seeks to empower their parents to take control of their learning. This works by giving them access to high-quality learning materials and expert help.

Founded by the former Google Nigeria boss, Honey Ogundeyi, this platform is built to focus on Nigerian secondary school learners.

In addition, it has raised $3.5 million in pre-seed capital from Target Global. Other top African founders like Shola Akindolu and Babs Ogundeyin have also been a part in bringing effective education to their target audience.

With the founder’s experience, the expertise of the team, and the early funding secured, this startup looks ready to dominate the world. We are also counting on the success of this startup in 2022.

Tendo is a Ghanaian social e-commerce platform. It aims to reduce the burden of setup and operating costs for social commerce entrepreneurs. They do this by providing them with logistics, financing, and marketing.

Tendo, founded by Derrick Mungai, Evans Darbo Boateng, Felix Manford, and Primerose Katena, has become a social commerce solution for its target audience. It also provides a curated catalogue of products, marketing tools, and others that facilitate trading for resellers to choose from.

When a vendor sells a product at their price, Tendo handles the shipping of the product. Hence, it subtracts the cost and remits the profit to the seller’s account. This enables anyone to start an online shop with zero capital.

The company has a unique solution to social commerce. It also made it into Y Combinator 2022 Winter Batch.

We will be on the lookout for all the goodies Tendo has for the Ghanaian market.

NFTfi

NFTfi is a decentralized, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency loan platform in South Africa. Users can list their NFTs as collateral to get loan offers from other users. Founded in February 2020 by Stephen Young, its growth has since been an admirable one.

As a user on NFTfi, you can request a loan using your NFT, and other users start bidding to lend you money in cryptocurrency. These bids come with varying interest rates and repayment terms.

Once you accept an offer, you’ll receive wETH or DAI liquidity in your wallet. Your NFT is then sent to an escrow smart contract for the loan duration. If you repay the loan before your contract expires, you get your NFT back. If you default, the lender forecloses and receives your NFT.

As you might know, NFTs have gained massive ground in the tech system. This project has helped many young Africans create wealth.

We think this is a promising step in the crypto verse and we can’t wait to see NFTfi’s impact on the African tech ecosystem.

Lazerpay

Crypto continues to gain massive acceptance and adoption. As a result, there is a need to make it easy for holders to transact with it.

Njoku EmmanuelAbdulfatai Suleiman, and Prosper Ubi founded Lazerpay. It launched its beta version in November last year and has since become a payment gateway for crypto. Think of it like the Paystack of crypto.

Lazerpay has also secured an undisclosed amount of investment from Nestcoin in 2021.

As it prepares to launch to the public, the startup is expected to do to cryptocurrency what Paystack and Flutterwave are doing to fiat in Africa.

Conclusion

They are a lot more tech startups that are putting Africa on the global technology map. We are sure you would find a handful of amazing tech startups like this.
